It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen Louise Bestul of Lincoln, Nebraska, born in Shawano, Wisconsin, who passed away on September 21, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Bjorn Christenson and Eva Rae (Hanson); and her sister Leslie Trewyn. She is survived by: her close friends, Mark Bestul (Elizabeth Govaerts) of Lincoln and Nicholas Bestul (Hilary Walker) of Tijeras; her granddaughter Erica Bestul of Lincoln; and her siblings, Chris Christenson of Footville, Wisconsin, Keith Christenson of St. Paul, Minnesota, Matthew Christenson of Mauston and Mary Christenson-Smith of Barneveld, Wisconsin. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Karen's sons and granddaughter each selected an organization where memorials may be made: Friendship Home, a domestic violence shelter in Lincoln, Nebraska, Santuario de Karuna, an animal sanctuary in Tijeras, New Mexico, and National Public Radio.
