He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Hartig and Erna Hartig (Munstermann); his stepfather Albert Swartz; his daughter Debbie Hartig; and his brothers, Larry and Virgil Hartig.
He is survived by: his wife Connie Goetz; his sons, Jason Hartig (Jessie) of Beatrice and Rod Hartig (Elizabeth) of Hickman; his grandchildren, Stephanie McClung (Nick), Brooke Mitchell (Alan), Trevor Garton (Shelbi), Shelby Gross (Gehde), Christian Hartig, Sidney Hartig (Dalton Roever), Krynn Hartig and Seth Hartig; his great grandchildren, Jakobe, Theia, Kayson McClung, Caiden Peters, Harley Garton, Rory and Jorja Gross; and his sister-in-law Barbara Hartig. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces, cousins, and other extended family.
The lying in state was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel (708 N 6th St, Beatrice, NE 68310). Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the same location. A prayer was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 10:45 AM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (321 N 10th St, Beatrice, NE 68310). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the American Legion for the Avenue of Flags at the Courthouse, and to St. Paul Lutheran Church with the funeral home in charge.
