He was predeceased by: his parents, Theodore C. Berke and Alice E. Berke (Keller). He is survived by: his wife Marian A. Courkamp of Lexington; his sons, Michael of Lexington, David of Lexington, Mitchell (Jackie) of Elwood and Thomas of Glenwood; his grandchildren, Michaela Saatman (Tyler), Joseph (Paige), Molly Kopf (Blake), Patrick, Sarah Taubenheim (Jeremy), Theodore, Madison, Abigayle and Benjamin; his great grandchildren, Raelynn, Kathrynn and Jax; and his siblings, Gary (Gail) of Beatrice and Betty Erickson of Phoenix. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorials are suggested to the Grace Lutheran Church, Lexington Volunteer Fire Department or the Lexington Community Foundation.
