She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Earl and Hazel Rimel (Ankeny); her spouse Francis Smith; and her son Rick Francis. She is survived by: her daughter Sally Newton; her grandchildren, Angie Rath (Scott), Amy Nicolas (Phil), Katie Kvols (Ryan), Mitchell Smith (Darnele) and Rik Smith (Jamie); and her brother Richard "Dick" Rimel (Deanna). She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.
