She was predeceased by: her parents, James Petersen and Carolmae Petersen (Krebs); her son Jeffrey Charles Smith; and her nephew James L. Petersen. She is survived by: her son-in-law Stanley Schwartz (Rocky Williams) of Joshua, TX; her brother Kern Petersen (Marsha) of Hastings; her cousins, Shari Schnuelle (Richard Sharkey) of Grand Island, Robert Schnuelle of Tempe, AZ and Rebekah Polski of Madison, WI; her niece Lindsey Gallaway (Dan) of Hastings, NE; her great-nieces and great-nephews, Phoebe Manandik, Katelyn Gallaway, Nathan Gallaway and Daniel Gallaway; and also Liliana Lee Martin.

Memorials are suggested to MONA, the Museum of Nebraska Art, or KAAS, the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
