It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lee W. Wells of Kearney, Nebraska, who passed away on May 12, 2023, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Lee W. Wells to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Wells and Irene Wells (Judy); his parents-in-law, Lawrence and Ileene Wenzlick; his aunt Gladys Wells; and his brother-in-law Robert Hazzard.

He is survived by: his child Mandi; his wife Phyllis Wenzlick of Kearney; his children, Steven (Jessica), Sheri (Brian Rumbeck) and Cindi (Jeff Richter); his grandchildren, Isaac, Mikaela Richter of West Point, IA, Rachel, Kyle Andersen of Omaha, Christian Richter, Eli Richter of Kearney, Karlie, Austyn Rumbeck, Bladen Rumbeck of Amherst, Ashleigh Welch, Colton Wells of Lincoln, Tyson, Anthony and Blake Wilbur; his great grandchild Adalyn Richter of West Point, IA; his brother Larry Wells of Elm Creek; and his siblings-in-law, Shirley Hazzard of Elkhorn and Douglas (Joan Wenzlick). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Memorials are suggested to Zion Lutheran Church or Zion Lutheran School.

“Phyllis, my sincere condolences to you and the family. Lee was a good friend and mentor while I worked for the County Surveyor's office and Buffalo Surveying but the education I received from Lee's field experience and Wayne's legal knowledge was far more than I could have asked for. He will be missed by me and all those who had the opportunity to learn from him and took it. I am sorry I couldn't attend the service personally but I live in Rockport Texas now. Sincerely, Jim Buehler”
