He was predeceased by: his parents, Monty Petersen and Eleanora Petersen (Larsen); his sister Kathy Petersen; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Vaught (David), Bob Ohnesorge (Angie) and Tom Ohnesorge.
He is survived by: his wife Polly Petersen of Kearney; his children, Sarah Kotschwar (Keith) of Lantana, TX and Jason Petersen of Round Rock, TX; his grandson Hayden Kotschwar; his siblings, Gladys Lake (Martin) of Hebron, Dave Petersen (Joan) of Lincoln and Kermit Petersen of Lincoln; and his sisters-in-law, Pat Houck-Hobbs of Fairmont, NE and Sue Hinrichs (Larry) of Bruning, NE. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Homes and Cremations (4115 Avenue N Pl, Kearney, NE 68847). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials are suggested to the Family of Christ Lutheran Church.
