It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Karen M McConnell of Kearney, Nebraska, who passed away on March 3, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Leslie Shaffer and Ella Shaffer (Skanderup); her daughter Nancy Larson; her sisters, Shirley Ann White and Nadene Holub; her daughter-in-law Karen McConnell; and her husband Dale McConnell.
She is survived by: her son Dr. David McConnell of Kearney, Nebraska; her grandchildren, Matt Larson (Colby) of Holdrege, Elly Judy (Tanner) of Funk, Nebraska, Cassie Bernier (Mark) of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Austin McConnell (Savannah) of St. Louis, Missouri and Cole McConnell of Kearney; her great grandchild Hudson Larson; her grandchildren, Marshall, Miley Judy, Bryce and Blake Bernier; and her brother Dr. Ken Shaffer (Lynnda). She is also survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home (401 Burlington St, Holdrege, NE 68949). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, March 12th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Prairie Home Cemetery (2221 18th Ave, Holdrege, NE 68949).
