He was predeceased by: his parents, John Schmidt and Alma Schmidt (Johannes); his wife Donna Schmidt; his daughter Alma Schmidt; and his cousin Gordon Soneson.
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Erickson (Mike) of Cozad, Jo Ludden (Kerry) of Kearney and Jean Tuder (Roger) of Gravois Mills, MO; his grandchildren, Chad Erickson (Aimee), Lindsay Wells (Jeff), Abbey Jordan (Matt), Katie Bishop (Rob) and Gypsy Whitaker (Andrew); and his sisters-in-law, Maureta Studebaker of Mesa, AZ and Joyce VanPatten (Byron) of Lincoln. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to AseraCare Hospice care of The Amedisys Foundation or Donor's Choice.
