He was predeceased by: his mother Julia Schirmer; his stepfather Warren; his grandfather Carl; his siblings, Doretta Cain, Bob and Herbert 'Rusty' Schirmer; and also Rusty.
He is survived by: his former wife Shirley Foster; his children, Todd Schirmer (Terri) of Kearney, Marty Schirmer (Kristi) of Kearney, Bryan Schirmer of Kearney and Kimberly Thomas (Sylvester) of Omaha; the mother of his children Shirley Schirmer of Kearney; and his grandchildren, Micah Marth, Sotonye Green, Madison Schirmer, Tyler Schirmer, Ibinye Green, Payton Schirmer and Isabell Schirmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the North Platte Senior Center or McKenna's Rae of Hope.
