He was predeceased by: his parents, James Smutny and Mary Smutny (Smola); his brother Jim; his sister-in-law Sherry Smutny; and his nephew Michael Smutny.
He is survived by: his sons, Bob Smutny (Crystal), Makenzie, Ryaan, Blake of Kearney, Chris Smutny (Christine), Madelyne and Andrew of Tekamah, NE; his siblings, Chuck Smutny (Jan) of Danville, CA and Mary Donovan (Rick) of Omaha; and his close friend Deb Beerman of Kearney. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Memorials to the family will be decided at a future designation.
