She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Wood and Gertrude Wood (Westbrook); and her husband Robert Newton. She is survived by: her children, Peggy Winter of Lexington and Mark (Lana Newton) of Grand Island; and her grandchildren, Mike Winter (Laura Winter) of Lexington, Matt (Lora Winter) of York, Mason Winter of Grand Island, Melodee Winter of Lexington, Lori Belitz of Kearney, Katie (Nick Watkins) of Omaha, Benjamin Newton of Gilbert and Blake Newton of Mountain Iron, Minnesota. She is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren; she is also survived by extended family and many friends.
Joann enjoyed her last seven years in the Alzheimer's wing, Angel's Way at Mount Carmel.
