He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Smith and Verda Smith (Swain). He is survived by: his wife Dedra Smith of Kearney; his children, Shane Smith (Kari) of Holdrege, Ryan Smith (Anita) of Kearney and Leslie Rief (Scott) of Kearney; his grandchildren, Crystal, Jessica, Autumn, McKaden, Kyenna, Cope, Creighton, Skyler and Cohen; his stepchildren, Brittany Harp, Ashley Roberts, Cassandra Roberts and Jeremiah Roberts, Jr.; his brother Russ Smith (Sandy) of Kearney; and the mother of his children Rhonda Smith of Kearney. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.
