It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Doug E. Lund of Kearney, Nebraska, who passed away on September 14, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jay Lund and Grace Lund; his wife Betty; his sister Janice Emery; his brother-in-law Milton Emery; and his son-in-law William "Bill" Luxford.

He is survived by: his children, Scot Lund (Bev) of Hutchinson, KS and Susan Luxford (Lund) of Lincoln, NE; his grandchildren, Lucas Luxford (Madelyn) of Lincoln, NE, Kiley Willis (Adam) of Hutchinson, KS, Lauren Krehbiel (David) of Pretty Prairie, KS and Lyndsey Haag (Jordan) of Hickman, NE; and his brother Duane Lund (Barb) of Allen. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials are suggested to the First Lutheran Church, Kearney Elks Club, or the UNK Biology Department.

“I will remember Dr Lund with happiness and respect. His genetics lab was the best course I took while at Kearney State...after I became a biology/ AP bio teacher, I contacted him for info on how to obtain fruit flies for my lab....he didn't just answer,, he provided them for me!! Three sections of AP students performed fruit fly crosses in my classes for 15 years....he was the best! My condolences....and Rest in Peace Dr. Lund.
