He was predeceased by: his father Amos Wietjes; his brother Jerry Wietjes; and his pets, Clyde, Duke and Hank.
He is survived by: his mother Genevieve Wietjes (Bosle) of Kearney; his children, Pam Gibbs (Lanny) of Pleasanton, Karen Johnson (John) of Kansas City, MO and John Wietjes (Lana) of Ravenna; his grandchildren, Clay and Riley Wietjes; his siblings, Brenda Martin (Keith) of San Antonio, TX, Rodney Wietjes (Connie) of Liberty, MO, Dennis Wietjes of York, NE and Kristi George (Rich) of Snohomish, WA; and his sidekick Rufus.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 26th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Homes and Cremations (4115 Avenue N Pl, Kearney, NE 68847). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 27th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church (3315 11th Ave, Kearney, NE 68845).
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family of Joey Eggelston to help with medical and travel expenses for his son Josh's care.
