He is survived by: his family Angus; his sister Audrey; and his children, Merle, Lars and Twyla. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Although Verda faced many years with Alzheimer's, the couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in Yakima, Washington, surrounded by loved ones.
