He was predeceased by: his parents, Philip Edwin Darby Sr. and Clara B. Strohmyer; his wife Karen Darby; his sister Jean E. Large; and his siblings-in-law, Dean Linn, Harold Benzel, Gloria Benzel and Donna Linn.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sara Darby (Craig Forester) of Omaha, Jennifer Jo Mitchell (Scott) of Grand Island, Luanne Rae Gesell of Lincoln, Linda Kae Petet (Rick) of Lincoln, Patricia Ann Cohen (Andrew) of Lincoln and Karla Lynn Schmidt (Roger) of Grand Island; his grandchildren, Liza Jo Lorenz (Chad), Clair Olivia Schmidt, Philip Payton Schmidt (Jessica), Cameron Lee Petet, Erin Darby Gesell (Jared Kennedy), Darby Linn Kurtz (Dana), Sydney Kae Wilhelms (Tyler) and Tanner John Gesell; his great grandchildren, Tatum, Taelor, Devon, Porter, Lettie and Lovelyn; and his sister Joan C. Smith (William) of Broomfield. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
