The memory of Gilbert Preister of Humphrey, Nebraska, who passed away on April 24, 2025 at the age of 88, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Preister and Clara Preister (Magsman). He is survived by: his wife Sylvia Preister of Humphrey; his children, Cathy Gronenthal (Paul) of Humphrey, Glen Preister (Julie) of Humphrey, Steve Preister (Denise) of Lindsay, Gary Preister (PJ) of Valley, Rosemary Wiese (John) of Lindsay, Christine Jarecki (Dean) of Hartshorn, MO and Scott Preister (Kay) of Petersburg; his stepchildren, Diana Ainsworth (Jim), Jack Beller, Carl Jarosz (Kim), Mark Jarosz and Jackie Jarosz; his siblings, Gerard Preister (Ramona) of Columbus and Mildred Ludden of Columbus; and his brother-in-law Cliff Finkral of Humphrey. He is also survived by 33 Grandchildren, 63 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great Grandchildren, 11 Step Grandchildren, and 15 Step Great Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Francis Catholic Church (203 S 5th St, Humphrey, NE 68642). A vigil service will be held on Sunday, April 27th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, April 28th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of plants, flowers, and statues the family encourages memorials to be designated at a later date.
