He was predeceased by: his parents, James Hanel and Julia Hanel (Holoubek); his wife Bernita Hanel; his son Daniel Hanel; and his great grandchild Charles.
He is survived by: his children, Ramonyca Brown (Ed) of Boynton Beach, Florida, Janet Breitkreutz (Craig) of Columbus, Nebraska, Judy Weston (William) of Juniata, Nebraska, David Hanel (Iva) of Clarkson, Nebraska and Margaret Smith (Leonard) of Howells; his grandchildren, Donald Howard (Jennifer), Michael Howard, Janette Batts (Ken), Ranita Hiller (Brett), Karl Breitkreutz, Adam Breitkreutz, Nicholas Hanel (Rebecca), Spencer Hanel, Bill Weston, Carolyn Perez (Mike), Joseph Weston and Jose Smith; and his stepgrandchildren, Wayne Brown (Marion), Tammy Hilton (Terry) and Ed Brown III. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
