He was predeceased by: his father Willard Perry Howard; and his brothers-in-law, Terry Sweeney and Ronald Hooks. He is survived by: his mother Shirley Howard (Hamilton) of Omaha; his former wife Ruth Wiezorek; his children, Kristie of Omaha, Jeff of Omaha and Jason of Omaha; his wife Karolyn Howard of Holmesville; his daughter Traci of Lincoln; his siblings, Judy Linehan (Wes) of Seattle, Karen Sweeney of Omaha, Margi McGovern (Steve) of Omaha and Dan Howard (Tina) of Omaha; and his parents-in-law, Jack Holmbeck (Wendy) of Texas and Kathy Hooks of Beatrice. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Beatrice Humane Society.
