He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred J. Nelson and Helen L. Nelson (Nelson); his wife Lila LaVonne Blythe; his siblings, LeRoy Nelson, Willard Nelson (Barbara) and Helen Carlson (Bill); his siblings-in-law, Shirley Scoville (Dean) and Clifford Blythe (Gwen); and his son-in-law Jason Wheeler.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Nelson (Jodi) of Bertrand and Mavis Barkley (Troy) of Littleton, Colorado; his brother Raymond Nelson (Ruth) of Holdrege; his siblings-in-law, Kerry Blythe (Marlene) of Overton, Nebraska and Judy Ikard (John) of Glendale, Arizona; his grandson Jake Nelson (Joslyn); his great grandchildren, Hakon of Bertrand, Rorik of Bertrand, Malia of Bertrand and Merik of Bertrand; his grandchildren, Tanner Nelson (Shelby) of Bertrand and Karli Johnson (Carter); his great grandchildren, Brodie and Lila of Lincoln, Nebraska; and also Kristi Burford (Joe) of Brady, Nebraska. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many friends.
A memorial has been established in Howard's honor and kindly suggested to the Mission Outreach of Westmark Evangelical Free Church or Christian Homes Care Community.
