He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Burris and LaVone Burris Sr. (Reid); and his siblings, John Burris, Robert "Bob" Burris and Karen Zeman.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Burris; his children, Denise Peters (Jerry), Paul Burris (Pam), Douglas Burris, Michelle Thomas and Wayne Burris (Jennifer); and his grandchildren, William Cran, Jonathan Cran, Derek Burris, DeAnna Maxwell, Chad Burris, Andy Burris, Jeremy Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Mason Willard and Noah Burris. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Memorials are suggested to Hershey Senior Center.
