He was predeceased by: his mother Frieda Bruning (Bunting); his siblings, Marjorie and Herb; and also, Dr. Walter E Reiss and Dr. Tom Tonniges.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Reiss of Bruning; his children, Jane Tonniges of Omaha and Fred D. Bruning (Penni) of Bruning; and his grandchildren, Christopher Tonniges (Lindsey), Emily Tonniges of Omaha, Elizabeth Tonniges (Jesse Bergman) of Lincoln, Adam Bruning (Carley) of Holdrege, Abby Bruning (Nick Branting) of Bend, OR and Reiss Bruning (Heather) of Bruning.
