He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester H. Garrett and Lanola A. Garrett (Plunkett); his wife Dorothy Garrett (Chambers); his children, Lanola Ann, Debra Spickelmier and Lester James "Bud" Garrett; and his great grandchildren, William Reich and Cole Frederick.
He is survived by: his children, Jerry Garrett (Albert Joyce) of Grand Island, NE and Brenda Yeager (Chuck) of Hayes Center, NE; and his children-in-law, Merle Spickelmier of Hemingford, NE and Cathy Garrett of North Platte, NE.
