He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Howsden and Florence Howsden (Porter); his former wife Fern Kemper; his wife Rochelle Behrendt; his sister Margaret; his brother-in-law Richard Peterson; his brother Fred "Jerry"; and his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Howsden and Clarence Kemper.

He is survived by: his son James (Jennifer Howsden); his grandchildren, Kayla (Jake Frerichs), Will (Meeka Howsden), Nicole (Paxton Gruber) and Marcus Hamik; and his great grandchildren, Anna Frerichs and Harrison Howsden.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Churchyard Cemetery.
