Wanda Sidlo Obituary
Hastings resident, Wanda Rae (Lewis) Sidlo, 80 passed away Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Perkins Pavilion, Good Samaritan Society, Hastings-Village. Services will be Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church, Hastings, NE with Rev. Tony Dawson officiating. Burial will be in Cloverton Cemetery, in Webster County.
Book signing will be Friday, May 11, 2012 from 9 am to 4 pm at the Brand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hastings, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Cloverton Cemetery Fund. Wanda was born October 26, 1931 to Marshall Ray and Rebecca Louise (McCain) Lewis at the Lewis homestead in Webster County, NE. She attended Cloverton and Blue Hill schools and graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1949.
Wanda then attended Kearney State College in Kearney, NE. She worked at the theater in Red Cloud where she met Albert Sidlo. They were married May 19, 1951 in Sidney, Iowa. Albert passed away October 2, 2006. They raised three sons in Hastings, NE. Wanda taught rural schools in Webster, Washington, Dawson and Clay counties for 18 years, after retiring she worked for Hastings Utilities for 18 years.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hastings, NE for over 50 years. Wanda enjoyed reading, traveling, enjoying the outdoors with her family and spending time with her grandchildren. Left to mourn her passing are three sons, Mike and wife Cyndie of Hastings, Randy and wife Alicia of Littleton, CO and Kirby and wife Angela, of Astoria, OR; six grandchildren, Andrew Sidlo, Matthew Sidlo, Jennifer Westfall, Lisa Adams, Corey Sidlo, and Toby Sidlo, and ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Albert, three brothers, three sisters, two infant grand-daughters, two nieces and one nephew. She will be missed by all those who knew her.
