He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Grothen and Hertha Grothen (Plautz); his siblings, Carl, Harold, Raymond and Edna; and his son David.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Grothen; his children, Karen Grothen-Neff (Pat Neff), Lincoln, Donald Grothen (Martha Mendez), San Leandro and Dale Grothen (Billie Guyette); and his daughter-in-law Wanda Grothen. He is also survived by Grandchildren: 8 Great-Grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Volunteer Fire Department of Hastings, NE.
