He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Holsten and Ane Marie Holsten (Jensen); his sister Marilyn Ostergaard (Vernon Ostergaard); his nephews, Dan of Kennewick, Washington and David Ostergaard of Kennewick, Washington; his brother LaVern Holsten; and his sister-in-law Shirley Holsten of Minden.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Kent Holsten (Barb) of Hastings, Kevin Holsten (Linda) of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Marcia Benson (Greg) of Kearney, NE, Audre Zaroban of Omaha, NE and Lorane Rosenthal (Dave) of Holdrege; and his cousin Marjorie Rohlfs of Lincoln. He is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
After Covid, Melv moved to Hastings in 2021 to be closer to family.
