He is survived by: his parents, Delton Bates and Marie Bates; his wife Betty Bates; his children, Tim (Angi Bates), Hastings, Randy (Shannon Bates) and Melissa Bates; his grandchild Michael Mariah Maleah Reese; and his brother Marlyn Bates.
