He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Hawes; his children, Tom, Laurie Hawes, Linda, Rick Klamm, Carol, Craig Ratzlaff, Brian, LeAnn Hawes, Lisa and Rob Johnson; and his grandchildren, Becky, Jeff Crecelius, Chris, Abbie Hawes, Devon, Amanda Hawes, Courtney Klamm, Eric Ratzlaff, Joel Ratzlaff, Taylor Hawes, Ashley Hawes, Step-Grandchildren, Kelsey, Brian Keever, Kellen and Brooke Fraser.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Cecilia's Catholic Church or H.A.R.S.P. (Hastings Area Retired School Personnel) scholarship fund.
