She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred E. Placke and Clara N. Placke (Alber); her husband Eugene Mertens; her daughter Debra Boom; and her stepgranddaughter Megan Skalka.
She is survived by: her former husband Albert Boom; her children, David (Kim Boom) and Kelly Boom; her stepchildren, Jan (Ken Pavelka) and John Mertens; her grandson Scott (Angie Boom); and her stepgrandson Mike (Betsy Pavelka).
Memorials may be given to First St. Paul's Lutheran Church or Alzheimer's Association.
