He was predeceased by: his parents, Erwin Burling and Velma Burling (Cullen); his son Robert Burling; and his siblings, Charles Burling and Marilyn Henkel.

He is survived by: his daughters, Beth Fotinos (Doug) of Kenesaw, Barbara Andreasen (Rick) of Genoa and Brenda Stocker (Mitch) of Hastings; and his stepson Dallas Smetter of Texas. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the family to designate at a later date.
