He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Ester Mays; his children, Christina Chairez (Francisco Chairez), Aurora Gunsalus (Jason Gunsalus), Michael Mays (Niki Mays) and Xavera Gunsalus-Mays; his grandchildren, Eva Chairez, Lucia Chairez and Makai Chairez; his sister Nancy Burton Andersen; and his parents, Clifford Mays and Rosella Mays.
