She was predeceased by: her mother Hazel Smith. She is survived by: her father Charles Smith; her husband Tim Vala; her daughters, Kirsten Fong, Kyla Shaver and Kelsey Donovan; and her grandchildren, Zoe Fong, Ethan Fong, Freya Shaver, Stefan Shaver and Elias Shaver.
In lieu of flowers the Vala family requests donations which will be sent to The Gretna Library Foundation in her honor.
