Hood, Danielle of Pine Ridge, Elizabeth Richards of Pine Ridge and Arlen Roy Janis of Pine Ridge, SD; his siblings, Deborah Cordier (Janis) of Pine Ridge, Kay Janis of Pine Ridge and Ross Janis of Batesland, SD; and his great grandchildren, Mike, Cherise Twiss, Faron, Louise Krueger, Terrance Hodgkiss, Bud Waters, Ed Schuh, Melvin Tibbitts, Jolene Trueblood, Austin Backward Jr., Archie Backward, Tamara Randall (TJ), Marjoe Janis, Louis Janis and Pine Ridge Fire Dept. He was also cherished by 8 great-grandchildren, and countless relatives and friends.
