Emily Nelson Obituary

We are sad to announce that on August 28, 2021, at the age of 85, Emily Nelson of Gibbon, Nebraska, born in Ravenna, Nebraska passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Emil Kunes and Beulah Kunes (Vroman); her son Robert Nelson of Kearney; her sisters, Mila Gappa (Bob) of Kok and Wuanita McGaugh (Buddy) of Eldorado, Arkansas; her husband Andrew Nelson; her daughter-in-law Cheryl Nelson; and her nephew Allen Miller.

She is survived by: her daughter Julie Simpkins (Gene) of Kearney; her grandchildren, Laura Pasbrig (Dan) of Minden, Shannon Petrick (Travis) of Hildreth, Megan Ingram (Eric) of Hildreth, Steven Simpkins of Kearney, Justin Nelson (Lindsey) of Lincoln and Destinee Shearer (Matt) of Farragut, IA; and her great grandchildren, Dalton, Jaxson, Everleigh Pasbrig, Keegan, Allie Petrick, Taylor Ingram, Brantley, Kinley Shearer and Leo Nelson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Emily loved volunteering her time with the American Cancer Society and making quilts for patients at the hospital.
