She was predeceased by: her parents, Hugh Doyle "Ted" and Edith May VanWinkle (Hewitt); her husband Donald Smith; her siblings, Hershel VanWinkle, Zada Kreiling and Eugene William (Ted "Rip" VanWinkle); her grandsons, Steve Scott and Greg Palmer; and her great grandchild Dawson Krueger.
She is survived by: her children, Max Smith (Vicki) of Gering, Douglas Smith (Janice) of Scottsbluff, Michael Smith (Patti Grentz) of Scottsbluff and Donna Cline (Lance) of Gering; her sister-in-law Barb Dalke of Arizona; and her friend Janine Hall. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren.
