He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen L Gifford Jr. and Ethel Mae Gifford (Sohus); his son James Owen; and his parents-in-law, John and Anna Hanlon.

He is survived by: his wife Florence Anne Hanlon; his children, Jeri Revelle (Jack), Robert J Gifford (Rhonda) and William Gifford (Kari); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Bohnsack (JB), Shelly Muggli (Jonathan), James Revelle (Traci), Stephen Gifford (Kyla), Thomas Gifford (Stephanie), Cynthia Zimmerman (Eric), Daniel Gifford (Natalie), Lisa Cox (Josh), Brandon Gifford (Katrina) and Tyler Gifford (Courtney Madsen). He is also survived by 23 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be given to Christ the King Church, Banner Co. Historical Society or Fireman.
