With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Judith Smith (Gering, Nebraska), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Judith left this world on November 29, 2024 at the age of 81, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, John C. Hawkins and Verna Hawkins (Giles); her in-laws, Ward and Mary Smith; her siblings, Jack Hawkins and Mary Lou Elliott; and her nephew John Elliott.

She is survived by: her husband Giles Smith; her children, Marc of Scottsbluff, Jennifer of Gering and Josh of Lincoln, NE.; her grandchildren, Shane Smith (Madison) of Scottsbluff, Tyler Smith of Scottsbluff and Regan Smith of Burwell, NE.; her great grandchild Sutton Smith of Scottsbluff; her uncle Eddie Vermillion (Ovetta) of Oklahoma; her nieces and nephews, Steve Elliott (Ginger) of Palmer Alaska, Vic Hawkins (Lori) of Gering, Aaron Smith (Laura) of Sioux Falls, Adrian Smith (Andrea) of Gering, Nancy Elliott of Sun City and Kelly Brown of Alliance, NE.; and her great-nephews, Gabe Elliott and Zeke Smith.

Viewing was held on Monday, December 2nd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gering Memorial Chapel (1755 11th St #2419, Gering, NE 69341). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, December 3rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Central Church of Christ (1245 Five Rocks Rd, Gering, NE 69341).

Memorials may be made in Judy's honor to the Scottsbluff/Gering Teammates Mentoring Program or to Central Church of Christ for youth programs and church camp.
