He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernhard Popken and Marie Popken (Gollenstede); his daughter Linda Baumert; and his brother Duane Popken. He is survived by: his wife Ione Popken; his children, David Popken (Michele) of Florida, Barbara Sagehorn (Darrell) and Nancy Hank (Jack) of Texas; his son-in-law Kurt Baumert of North Bend; his grandchildren, Sarah, James Popken, Lisa Rymas (Dan), Pamela Henry (Scott), Samantha Matson (Michael), Patricia Lambert (Brad) and Kristina; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Lila, Amelia Rymas, Jace, Jordan Henry, Morgan, Cooper Matson, Miles, Isla, Ryder Lambert, Holly, Luke Jastram, Brody, Kate, Breckin, Cora Blanchard, Beau and Rylee Blanc; and his sister-in-law Jean Popken.
Memorials are suggested to First Lutheran Church Fremont and new Uehling Fire and Rescue building.
