With heavy hearts, we announce the death of LaVerne E. McKown of Fremont, Nebraska, born in Plainview, Nebraska, who passed away on February 8, 2023 at the age of 79. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Ervin McKown and Eldora McKown; his grandson Alexander Fortin; and his siblings, Rollie, Patricia Frahm and Laine Wiegard.

He is survived by: his former wife Sharon Schlecht; his child Leslie; his former wife Kathleen Karel; his children, Nathan and Megan; his grandchildren, Joe, Jackson, Emerson, Lillian, Addie and Lidia Gilfry; his wife Cindy of Fremont; his children, Sean McKown of Omaha and Ashlynne; his child-in-law Nate McKown (Ashley); his grandchildren, River, Finley and Leslie Fortin (Nick) of Bennington; his great grandchildren, Olivia and Tyler; his granddaughter Megan Ware (Gary) of Louisville; his great grandchild Milovat; his siblings, Pam McKown of Alaska and Ken McKown of Norfolk; his brother-in-law Alan Wiegard of Norfolk; his stepson Jeremy Gilfry (Jamie) of Winter Garden, FL.; his stepgrandchildren, Joey (Lanie), Jackson, Lillian and Lidia; his stepson Jon Gilfry (Dawn) of Fremont; his stepgrandchildren, Emerson and Addie; and his stepsons, Barley and Halley.

With it being 'open air' he could get books during the pandemic without worrying about germs while on lockdown protection.
