He is survived by: his mother Annabell Chapa Barron (Amparo); his wife Graciela Ortiz; his children, Derek Ruiz (Brittney) and Stephanie Ruiz; his siblings, Anthony Ruiz, Gumesindo Ruiz Jr. and Priscilla Ruiz; and his grandchildren, Aaliya, Noah and Amelia. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
