He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Smith and Katharine Smith (Stephens); his wife Shirley Taylor; his grandson Joshua Pierce; his brother Thomas Smith; and his sisters-in-law, Joan Taylor, Marjorie Taylor and Nancy Smith (Dave).
He is survived by: his daughters, Joan Pauley (Doug) of Columbus, NE and Elizabeth Pachta (Robert) of Omaha, NE; his grandchildren, Kristina, Hannah, Nicole, Ryan Pauley and Bradley Pierce (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Mason, Blair and Callan Pierce; his brother Larry Smith (Babs) of Portage, MI; and his sisters-in-law, Grace Smith of Portland, OR, Roberta McKay (late Barry) of Cody, Susan Smith (Tom) of Coon Rapids, MN and Kathyrn Rudd (Jim) of Eagan, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
