He was predeceased by: his parents, John C. Rathjen and Gertrude M. Frahm Rathjen Johnson; and his wife Maxine. He is survived by: his great grandchildren, Jack, Ty, Luke and John; his uncles, Ted Rathjen and Richard Frahm; his siblings-in-law, Mildred Swingholm (John), Helen Kriens (Darrel), Marlene White (Maurice), Arnold Woodring (Kaye) and Brice Jr. Woodring (June); his nieces and nephews, Julie Joons, Jackie Stewart, Barbara Hopenzitz, Donna Gardener, Gayle Robertson, Jo Boothe, Robert Richter, John Swingholm and Steve White; his children, Lois Rasmussen (Norlan) of Audubon, IA and Bill Rathjen (Glenda); his grandchildren, Leslie Gorman (Chad) of Eau Claire, WI, Stephanie Anderson (Jake), Ankara, Turkey, Anna Strohm (John) of Bennington, NE and James Rathjen; his great grandchildren, Maddox Gorman, Abigail Anderson, Kade and Sophie Strohm; and his nieces and nephews, Marcia Devor, Gloria Drummond, Mary Miller (Ned), Dave Woodring (Connie), Don Woodring (Linda), Duane Woodring (Shelly) and Jerry Uehling.
In Lieu of Traditional Remembrances, Memorials are suggested to: Fort Calhoun Fire and Rescue or Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church.
