He was predeceased by: his father Elmer Appel; and his brother Sam Appel. He is survived by: his wife Patty Appel; his children, Michelle Nelson (Ritchie) and Jeff Appel (Ginger) of Ft. Calhoun; and his grandchildren, Nolyn, Kloey (Wyatt), Madison and Carsen (Lauren).
