He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Alvarez and Sylvia Alvarez (Padilla); his wife Heather Redmill; his brothers, Trino and Jesse Alvarez; his niece Francine Wolff; his nephews, John Wiebelhaus and Larry Lee Vogt; and his siblings-in-law, Daniel Wiebelhaus, Larry Vogt and Shirley Alvarez.

He is survived by: his sisters, Mary Wiebelhaus of Fordyce, NE and Ramona Vogt of Lenexa, KS; his adoptive son Christopher Alvarez of England; and his grandson Stephen Cruz Alvarez. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
