He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Gerweck and Barbara Gerweck (Strecker); his former spouse Donetta Sumner; his wife Irene Jolkowski Rathman; and his siblings, Everett, Harold, Verna Harrison, Edna Harold, Margaret Sinclair and Eleanor Kean.

He is survived by: his children, Pam Bower (Ken) of Columbia, MO, Mike (Lesa) of Lee's Summit, MO, Sue Gerweck (Mike Skeen) of Liberty, MO, Rob (Kristy) of Falls City and Angie Lampe (Mike) of Falls City; his stepchildren, Vicki Lehr (Tony) of Gladstone, MO and Chris Rathman (Kim) of Maple Grove, MN; and his sister Mary Ann Koelzer of Rulo. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
