He was predeceased by: his wife Yvonne Aken; his parents, Faye Theo Rose and Orville E. Aken; his stepfather Andrew Rose; and his siblings, Edward Aken and Faye Rose.
He is survived by: his children, Donald Aken Jr, Bruce Aken and Laurie Hanson; and his siblings, Lavonne Randolph and David Aken. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
