He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sr. Taft and Marguerite Taft (Gilson); his wife Phyllis Joyce Geistlinger; his son Michael; his parents-in-law, Ed Geistlinger, Florence Geistlinger Davis and John Davis; his daughter Rebecca Joy; his daughter-in-law Lou Ann Taft; his brothers, Marvin (Lois) and Ronald (Elaine); and his brothers-in-law, Jim Geistlinger (Norma) and Bud Geistlinger (Cathy).
He is survived by: his sons, Dale (Cheryl) of Elwood and Tim of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Kimberly (Clinton Jones), Chris, Wade (Shirley), Casey (Rene), Derek (Amy) and Drew (Melissa); his great grandchildren, Lucca, Reuben, Braylon, Audrey, Zoey, Billy, Brianna, Emily and Lily; his sister Deloris Mertens; his sister-in-law Evelyn Hillblink (Everett); and his niece Carol Anderson.
