He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Bartels and Elsie Bartels (Wagner); his brothers, Kenneth and Harold; and his siblings-in-law, Leona Bartels, Harlan Plager and Vera Plager.
He is survived by: his wife Lois Ann; his children, Kirk (Lisa) of Elk Creek, Mike (Sandy) of Lincoln, Lynn (Jennifer) of Lincoln and Cheryl of Elk Creek; his grandchildren, Tony (Liz Bartels) of Lincoln, Luke Bartels of Glendale, AZ, Maxwell Bartels of Seward, Kelby (Jenny Krueger) of Geneseo, IL and Chris (Andrea Krueger) of Waukee, IA; his sister Sharon Hestermann (Eldon) of Eagle; and his siblings-in-law, Carla Plager of Lincoln and Richard Plager of Humboldt. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the West Elk Creek 4-H Club, Tracy-Bates American Legion Post #370 of Elk Creek or St. John's Lutheran Church, Tecumseh.
